stardustcboy's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...Nate Boxley may not be a real person... aHA! i remember what i wanted to say! i can't tell you how much i like a good mystery. that being said, i'm also a huge fan of puzzles, riddles and other such brain-teasers. i am TRULY the cat in the well-known phrase, "curiousity killed the cat." i just have nine lives! so, with this in mind, i was thinkin' back to the other night, when i had followed a link to mr. nate boxley's diary. i'm beginning more and more to think that this diary is at least in part a work of fiction. this in NO WAY invalidates the absolute genius of it. because i'm an inquisitive lil kitty, i began to dig around a bit...here's a list of things that lead me to believe the nate boxley diary might just be a work of fiction (if any of you know out there whether or not this is truth, the please tell me so i don't waste anymore time pondering it)...here goes... 1) - in mr. boxley's "location" it lists him as living in Arkum, Massachusettes. this name rings a bell...but before i tell you...try doing a mapquest on Arkum, MASS. did you get anything? now...try doing a gOoGLe search...what did you find? what spelling did google change your search query to? was it "Arkham?" also, try and look up current maps of Massachusetts...see any Arkum? or even an Arkham? you see, Arkum or Arkham, MA does not exist in time and space. it exists only in the fictional writings of Howard Philip Lovecraft. now, that's not to say that mr. boxley didn't just say Arkum to hide his real location; but if he was to do that, why give a location at all? why not just leave that part blank? hmmm? also, notice that no one, NO ONE else on this site is listed as being from Arkum. he is the only one...though there are probably dozens if not hundreds of people from massachusetts. now, there is DEFINITELY a salem, MA. which i think is where his narrative takes place. there is indeed a Salem State College in Massachusetts...but i'll get into that in a minute... 2) - there are only a few people in who've left notes for him that link back to actual diaries. "grandma666" is a dead diary. as well as a few more. that's not to say that these diaries didn't exist at one point in time or another, but still...??? 3) - Salem State College does indeed exist, but nowhere have i found any record past or present of a Nate, or Nathan, Boxley. of course, he may not be using his real name either...but then there's no record of any of his aquaintences written in his diary...Lance Anderson or Robbie[Robert] Benson. again, these could be psuedonyms...but no one by those names can be found when searching site indexes. i tried to find some sort of student archive or enrollment page, but it you must be a current student with an e-mail and a password to access the student listings (if anyone knows anyone or can hack in to the motherfucker and look 'em up then feel free to let me know what you find)...so it could very well be that the above-mentioned parties do exist and are just unsearchable... 4) - the campus police archives of Salem State have no record of any preceedings related to the writings of mr. boxley...though the record only goes as far back as january 2004...the campus archives having been activated by the enactment of the "Jean Cleary Act" in Sept 2003. 5) - as a rebuttal, Haverhill, MA does exist and he does state that it is where his mother is... overall, i'm not refuting the veracity of mr. boxley's writings...what he sets down may be true, and if he is mentally disturbed as he says he is then the line between reality and fiction will be nigh impossible to define. however, it is my opinion that this diary is really just an imaginative, meticulously fabricated work of fiction, whose REAL author has gone to great lengths to suspend disbelief. until mr. boxley writes me himself i remain skeptical. if anyone else wants to do some research to either prove me right or wrong, do so, i love that sort of stuff. i'm just gonna' kick back and enjoy the show, real or not, and see how it all unfolds. but, it seems his updates are somewhat random and can have large gaps of time in them...soooo...until then...i'll just go and read some of this delicious goodness right here...naked... mWuaHahaha! xo ~B-) p.s. ~ new pic in the photolog for those of you who missed it...
