...Stardust Philosophy...

before i begin with the next essay in the "future of humankind" series. i feel that it is important for me to quickly outline my philosophical/spiritual beliefs. i imagine those of you who have read my diaries (including seadragon) already have a fairly clear idea of what i think about the universe and everything else; but i'll state it for the record.

when asked about my religious leanings or beliefs on the street or anywhere else my answer and philosophy is simple.

WHAT YOU BELIEVE IS.

there you have it. plain and simple. if you want to believe some old man in the sky is directing the course of your destiny and is responsible for the creation of the universe, then that is how it is. if you want to believe that the earth is our mother and created all life then that is how it is. if you don't believe that there is anything at all and that everything is merely coincidence and chaos, then that is how it is. hell, if you want to believe that all the planets sit on the backs of giant turtles that swim in an infinite ocean around the sun, then that is how it is.

that is the one thing i've learned about faith and belief. there is no disproving something that someone believes in. they are ruled by absolute, unwaivering, unfaltering faith in whatever tenants they hold dear; and no one save the supreme being itself can change their mind. you could argue it around and around with them until the end of time and nothing you say or do (short of walking on water or changing water into wine) will sway them to think differently. that is the nature of faith and belief my friends.

what you believe is, and everyone has a right to believe what they want.

so there you go.

now, that is just the surface of my actual philosophy. it is the "layman's answer". what i really believe is much, much, much more complex and harder to conceive. you might even say it is obtuse and eccentric.

the truth of the matter is that i have no one REAL belief. instead, i'm much more pragmatic, in that i have a series of theories on the nature of things. these theories have grown from research and observation in my own life as well as the world and people around me; and a certain amount of scientific study. the "what you believe is" philosophy is merely the first theory in my reportoire of theories; and if someone asked me to outline it all to them i'd gladly take the time to try and explain what it is i REALLY think about it all.

so here goes...

our bodies are composed of a countless number of cells. each cell is composed of a countless number of molecules. each molecule is composed of a countless number of atoms and so on and so forth. according to the law that matter can neither be created nor destroyed, then all matter in the universe has existed since the beginning of the universe; and therefore all matter composing ourselves, the world and everything else has existed since the dawn of time.

the biological processes that occur constantly within us create several different energies that can be recorded. firstly, our bodies emit thermal energy, we put off heat constantly until the day we die.

second, there are biochemical reactions that involve the altering of positive and negative charges of ions in our bodies (this is what occurs in our nervous systems). this exchange of energy surrounds our bodies with a field of bioelectric energy, and it also gives our bodies a small but still notable magnetic field.

finally, there is an aura of refracted light that is constantly surrounding us (otherwise how would we see each other).

my theory is that the thermal energies combined with the bioelectric energies and refracted light energies all create what many like to refer to as "the aura". also, these same energies combined with the magnetic and biochemical energies create what is what we like to call "the soul", "animus", "spirit", etc. from now on i will refer to this energy as the "quantum self".

quantum refers to the various atomic and sub-atomic reactions that are constantly occuring within us at any given moment due to the various energies listed above. the quantum self is very much apart from but enexorably linked to the physical self; and in fact, they share a symboitic relationship with one another. in other words, the quantum self cannot exist without the physical self and the physical self cannot exist without the quantum self.

the quantum self is a very powerful and enigmatic thing. since all things in the universe have a quantum effect in that they radiate certain energies, we are at all times surrounded by ever-changing tides of energy. these energies act like ripples in a pool of water in that they cascade, collide, ebb, and flow with other energies including your (our) quantum energies.

the points on your body where quantum energies are radiated most and cascade with other energies are "chakras".

your quantum self is undying. since it is composed of matter and energy that has existed since the beginning it merely changes form. when your physical self dies, your quantum self dissipates into its various components and recoalesces somewhere else in time/space. when this occurs your quantum self is reborn again in a new physical self. however, so much time has passed between the dissipation and the coalescence that much of the information of your quantum self from your previous existence is forgotten and what remains is "intuition" and latent "psychic phenomenon".

it is my theory that since the quantum self is ancient and undying that it is that part of us that is "divine". in that it has existed since the beginning, traveled through immeasurable amounts of time/space, and will continue on until the end of time (if there is such a thing).

the idea behind the quantum self is that it follows a path through time/space. this path can be traced (overall) as a wavelength. each atom has it's own path, but combine all atoms and you'll find that their paths aren't too far off (on an astronomical scale) from one another. combine the average of all atoms in their paths and you get a wavelength through time/space. thus, your quantum self travels along a wavelength through time/space that can be calculated. though according to the uncertainty principle you could never know the exact location of your quantum self along that wavelength while at the same time knowing the exact velocity and vice versa. you can only know one with certainty.

everything in the universe has a similar wavelength, including the universe itself. this is the foundation of theories like super-string, string, and m-theory.

you have direct contact with your quantum self, and it is my theory that with enough meditation, exercise and practice you can begin to utilize your quantum self to its fullest potential. evidence to this can be found in monks who can break bricks with a single sweep of their hand, seers who can foretell the future, and people who can sense events that occurred around them.

the quantum self is very powerful. i think that in the history of mankind as a whole there have been many who could tap into and harness its power naturally.

the quantum self is part of the universe as a whole and therefore i would imagine could be utilized to effect the world around you to a great degree. it is a matter of sheer will and focus...in other words...faith.

i would imagine that it might be possible to harness the power of the quantum self to travel huge distances in a single second, alternately, it might even be possible to move through time. since the quantum self travels along a path through time/space then perhaps with enough focus and energy you could move your quantum self backwards along the path and thus backwards in time(though this may have serious consequences on the universe as a whole and i would imagine may take an incredible amount of energy - maybe even more than a single quantum being could muster).
