stardustcboy's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...Fuck the \"real world\" and fuck all you priss-ass political bastards who ruin everything... i know, i know...i've been putting off this whole editorial thing for a while, but it's still stewing in my brain; and when i sit down to write something else always catches my thought pattern and i end up writing about it. like right now for example. reading some of my fav diaries made me want to comment on a few things... 1) - DIGITAL SOCIOLOGY VS. "REAL-WORLD" SOCIOLOGY: okay, so we assume that people who sit behind computers and surf "friendster" or dating sites or whatever are pathetic, lifeless losers with little to no social aptitude who's only recourse is to search for others through a digital medium. well my friends welcome to the fucking 21st century! you think that meeting people in bars/clubs/miscellaneous social gatherings is going to yeild a greater quanitity of pure, nice, cool, easy-going individuals? the answer? FUCK NO! let me tell you something right now about humans. we're generally lazy, selfish, and self-serving. we're judgemental, arrogant and bigoted. lastly, we're over-ANALytical, cowardly, and materialistic. "oh no, B, people i know are cool, all MY friends are the hippest hipsters around..." you might say. well, that's YOUR friends. what about people who AREN'T your friends? strangers? you know...in fact...you CANNOT DENY that you immediately catagorize those you meet by... A) - what they're wearing B) - skin color C) - gender
in this first glance you immediately decide whether or not this person is "worthwhile" to socially interact with. if they pass this first test you then quantify them further by... A) - political views B) - hobbies/interests C) - morals/standards if they fail this portion the convo and thus interaction ends. if they pass then there is a whole other set of tests they must pass to become a "friend". honesty, trust, dependability, support, etc. what i want to know is, is it any fucking different on the street than digital? you might say, "oh yes, B, in real life you actually see the person and interact so you know if they're fake or not." what the fuck are you talking about? you're saying that there isn't such a thing as a poseur and a fucking liar in "real life"? boy are you sorely mistaken. human sociology applies on all levels in all aspects of life, whether it's on the street, in a cafe, in a bar, in the grocery store, on a bus, on the fucking moon, or in cyber-space. so suck on that for a while. there are a million and one different ways to meet people in this fucking rotten, hell-hole of a world so fucking use them. you're still going to have to weed through the "undesirables" no matter what tools you use to connect so deal. besides, no matter what or who, you still sit there and apply all the necessary catagories and labels to people who you don't know. "oh, that guys a geek..." "oh, that chicks fat..." "that person there is stuck up..." "gah, what is SHE WEARING?!?" etc. etc. etc. NO ONE, not even your dear narrator here (try as i might), is guiltless of this. it is inherent to our very natures as human-beings i'm sorry. you can't escape it. you can't escape yourself, and you can't escape others. painful truth my friends. people are cruel, deceitful, greedy, etc. you and me both. if i had any choice i'd make the world happy and beautiful all the time and no one would die and no one would get sick and everyone would be cool and nice and friendly and we'd all be a bunch of fucking fonzies. sadly my friends, it isn't ever going to fucking happen. despite our delusion that we're oh-so-civilized, we're still just beasts with bigger brains and opposable thumbs. we still fight over resources, we still squabble over pointless shit...which leads me to my next rant... 2) - POLITICS i can't tell you how much i hate fucking politics. let me tell you right now...it's all fucking bullshit...just pick the level of it that you're comfortable with and then spout off about how YOUR SIDE is better and smarter to other people just to make yourself feel better about your life. of course, don't ever actually DO anything about anything. just say the other side sucks and then fuck everyone with your extremist views. democrats? republicans? conservative? liberal? two sides to the same fucking coin, two heads on the same hideous, mishapen body. one wants to rule you through fear, the other just wants to rule you and make decisions for you. facism vs. socialism that's about it. anyone want to argue with me? i dare you! i don't think anyone reads this fucking diary anyway so suck on it. besides, i'm tired of my usual soppy idealistic philosophical diatribes. i'm pissed and i want to fight with someone...i want to start a fight...i want to blow some shit up. politics is the false veneer on our delusion of society. insects have better politics than we do...i'll tell you why too...they're fuckin' amoral. they don't pray to any fuckin' imaginary dudes in the fuckin' sky. santa claus/god...psychological constructs to make people feel like life has some sort of divine point or meaning. same with politics...except it's a construct to give society some sort of purpose. put the two together and you've got a sure-fire way of controlling the masses. what's that? oh, you think we actually can MAKE a difference? what? all we have to do is become more "involved" in the process? oh, really? the power is in the hands of the people to change the world for good? fuck you. you're deluded too...at the whim of fucking lobbyists, corporations, men of power, and religious/philosophical organizations. you're a pawn. just a number in a final tally for whoever reigns supreme. i voted last election. i voted on who i thought would be the best choice. an independant. that's right, one of those fuckers who are a "wasted vote". gah, i could fuckin' strangle the people who say that shit. "oh, you don't want to vote for THEM! you might as well be voting for BUSH/GORE then!" FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU! you swallowed the left/right bullshit hook-line-and-motherfuckin'-sinker. fuckin' sheep... baaaaah baaaaah absolute freedom is a sham and can never exist. becuase absolute freedom is defined by the individual and not by the "majority". so as long as we have voting then the freedom we have is only partial. i'm sorry. say what you will and argue until you're blue in the face about how great the system is and how we can make a difference... i'm just not falling for it. it's a human construct and everyone knows that humans are imperfect and thus our systems and constructs are imperfect. deal with it. in the end you die and the universe continues its motion and 1000 years later no one will remember you so fuck off. i'm happy with my fucking playstation, it actually takes me out of myself for a while. there's a certain level of joy i gain from it. call me an escapist, call me a bastard, call me apathetic and callous (good for you you judgemental fuck). but for fuck's sake don't ever...EVER call me a democrat, republican, liberal, conservative, nerd, jock, mexican, american, californian, etc., etc., (insert myriad of labels here)... just call me brian, i'm human and i'm trying to be better; and much like you i just want to be happy despite the shitty things that happen. perhaps if you'd just drop the expectation and reserve judgement you might actually find out exactly what "brian" means...and what catagory a "brian" is... *end of rant* happy friday all you cyber-kids. be good, have a great weekend and be sure to enjoy the sunrise! ~B-) 11:56 a.m. - 2003-08-15 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
