...Theory A, B, and C...

GoOoD Thursday everyone!!

hope all is well in your little parts of the world.

i must apologize for the lack of updating, but i just haven't had all that much to talk about that my dearest love JeLLy didn't already cover in her diary. but today i felt the need to come on and say hello to all my dear cyber-friends, AND to wish ms. bams a very, very HaPPy BiRThDaY!! her diary is locked, but let me tell you right now just how special this young lady is. she's just incredible.

beyond that things are goin' good. work is work, getting things done and it's keeping me busy. outside that things are going well. JeLLy's startin' to get into her new job which is a good thing; and a friend of ours is couch surfin' at our pad cuz her and her man are on the outs. sucks ass, but they've done this sort of thing like a million times before. though i hope that she doesn't end up staying with us for too long. it's always tough when friends need a place to stay cuz their in the dumps or just trying to get their shit together, but sooner or later i'll want my own space back and no amount of cleaning is going to change my mind.

let's see what else? oh yeah...

what the fuck is wrong with you people?!? only three people have joined the UHL?!? sheesh. why do i even try? it's obvious at this point that humanity is doomed to fade from the face of the earth...only our titanic skyscrapers and cement buildings will stand the test of time...sad and silent monoliths to the greatness of human endeavor and nothing more...

i know, i know...your lives are complicated enough to even bother with anyone else's pain or suffering. you've got other things to worry about besides your neighbors problems, or the problems in the world at large. you've got bills, you've got your career, you've got YOUR life to tend to. that's fine. you just go on and do your thing...selfish bastards. ;-P

i tease.

but truth be told, we aren't going to get very far if we keep acting the way we do towards each other. it's pretty fatal in fact. but don't say i didn't warn you!

a week or so ago i came up with an idea that i think would pretty much benefit all of mankind, it was a pretty solid theory at the time...

THEORY A: the one thing that humans lack is understanding and knowledge to varying degrees. knowledge and information is power in this day and age. those who have it can use it to control those who don't. what i proposed is a device that can be implanted sub-cranially that allows its user to connect to all of human history and knowledge past/present. this would mean that everyone on earth has access to all information at once. that if you needed information on how to do open heart surgery it would be a thought away, as though it was your own. i thought that this would put everyone on and even level. if everyone knows as much as everyone else, then social classifications and income would shift radically. no longer would people be pigeonholed into jobs based off of what they know, and conversely, people wouldn't have the power to keep certain jobs (an example being a surgeon) simply because of education. everyone would know the same things.

after proposing this theory to a group of friends i decided to rethink it a bit. it seemed that the basic assumption is that once people are all on the same level concerning knowledge and information, they cease to be human and instead are like robots. this lead to an even greater debate about what makes us human. are we human because of our flaws? is it our knowledge (or lack thereof) that makes us human?

i tried to convey that our knowledge and our flaws are not what make us human, but instead, that it is our thoughts (the conscious application of knowledge) and actions that define us as individuals. this was difficult to convey to say the least.

the second assumption was that once we have all of human knowledge and history then there's nothing left to learn. that suddenly this would make doing anything pointless because we already know everything. this was greatly amusing to me. this assumption greatly displays the arrogance and naivety that we as people posess. i argued that just because we know all of human history and knowledge past/present by no means indicates that there is nothing else to learn. it sheer idiocy to think that what we know modernly and what we've learned to this point is in ANY WAY the end all be all of knowledge and understanding.

in any case this theory was greatly rejected by the majority of those engaging in the debate. i puzzled over this for a long time afterward. why is the idea of having all that knowledge terrifying to people? why was this idea so greatly rejected? if i had the ability to know everything that mankind has learned over the past few millenia i would totally take it. why so much anxiety and fear?

i realized that as a species our thought processes are still very analog, in other words, we still define things by dicotomies - day/night, right/wrong, left/right, up/down, good/evil, in/out, etc. by our very natures we are incapable of seeing all possibility outside just "one or the other". it is this very trait that we cling to so dearly as an aspect of our individuality. us and them. me and you. it is our ego. the idea of living outside this is wholly foriegn and alien. thus, being "wired" to all human knowledge and history seems too "computerized" or "mechanical" simply because there is no CHOICE as to what you know, you merely KNOW everything up to this point. this seems to frighten people.

seeing this i decided to rethink my original theory and i ended up producing this alternative...

THEORY B: knowledge and information is power. those who have it, use it to control those who do not. if everyone knew what everyone else knew then power would shift and become something defined on an individual level. rather than forcing everyone to know all the same things all at once, and using a technological item, i.e. - a microchip, to do so it would be much better to simply INCREASE brain power for every individual. thus, an person still knows what they know individually, but with increased brain power they have the ABILITY, the CHOICE, to learn ANYTHING they want to. basically, if you could take a pill or get an injection that would increase your brain power by 10 times would you? let's say that by getting this treatment you would learn things 10 times faster, AND moreover, what you learned you could recall with almost 100% accuracy. an example would be that you could read a 300 page book in under an hour, and if someone were to ask you what the 3rd paragraph of page 198 said, you could recall it VERBATIM. so not only do you learn quickly, but you retain practically everything you learn perfectly with no loss of data or memory. this would allow people the CHOICE to learn whatever they wanted to, and the POWER to learn it completely and in very little time.

i think this is a much better theory. it still allows people to choose what they want to know and thereby gives them a choice as to its application. basically, it retains the given freedoms and aspects that make us human; but allows a greater level of power.

i'd do it. first thing i'd do afterwards would be to learn every language on earth. i figure i could do that with my expanded brain in maybe a year. after that it would be practical application of knowledge...actaully going out and speaking those languages. after that i'd start learning about all sorts of things...biology, mathmatics, physics...

but it probably would be different for everyone else. the point is no matter what they chose to learn they'd learn it quickly, which would allow them more time to learn more, OR to apply it practically.

thus, the best way to save the human race is to expand their minds so they can learn faster and remember better.

the next step is creating an inexhaustable energy source (note: "inexhaustible" vs. "infinite"). so i propose to you my final theory...

THEORY C: think about the movie The Matrix and how everyone was put into lil tanks by the machines so that their bodily energy output could be harvested to power the machine civilization. this is actually a pretty neat concept...but its major flaw lies in the fact that a human produces SO MUCH MORE energy when they're runnin' around doin' stuff than when they're stuck in a jar. i propose we do something similar. if we could outfit all 6.1 billion people on earth with a watch-like device that absorbs and transmits the energy they output in a single day we'd have so much energy we wouldn't know what to do with it.

think about it. let's just say that one human being generates about 1 volt of electrical energy per day. okay, now multiply that by 6.1 billion.

that means if every human could transmit their energy output to some massive battery somewhere every day, we'd have 6.1 billion volts of energy. that's a lot of energy! FOR JUST ONE DAY! after a year imagine how much energy we would have generated! just by walking around and doing our day-to-day things! it's a LIVING ENERGY SOURCE! what we'd have is an INEXHAUSTIBLE source of energy. it wouldn't be INFINITE...but we'd definitely be generating more energy than we could possibly use. JUST BY MOVING AROUND AND LIVING.

that would be hellah sweet.

i think that the device would work a lot like those kinetic watches that stay powered by your own body movement. instead of making the watch tick and such, it would pulse a transmitting device. which in turn would activate a small generator somewhere. each pulse would spin the generator one revolution. multiply that by 6.1 billion and you've got a lot of pulses pushing that generator! then all you do is send the energy created by said generator through a few electrical coils and you've amplified your energy output by 30 times! 6.1 billion volts times 30!

we're talking 183 billion volts! OR 183 million MEGAVOLTS!! hooWAH!! all being generated by each individual human being! throw in some solar energy and we've got power to burn!

now all we have to do is replace fossil fuels...

my heart is full
