...Adventures in Vegas Part I: Prologue

ADVENTURES IN VEGAS PART I: PROLOGUE

so after thursday nights festivities at the Gas Lite kareoke i played hooky from work to spend time with the CuZ and do some last minute shopping/errands in preparation for the pimp'N'ho adventure to the city O sin.

the day went by quickly and the CuZ and i stopped by a few thrift stores in search of suitable pimp attire. we eventually ended up at this place called "iGuana" that had some pretty sweet clothes. my friend rob let me borrow this crazy 70's style bell-bottom jump-suit replete with butterfly collar and such. all i needed was a pair of shoes to make it fly...

and shoes i found! i picked up a pair of shiny, white, 4-inch platforms and they looked like $MONEY$! the CuZ grabbed a serious getup that included a pair of brown, suede flairs; boots; a seriously cool, brown, mobster-like hat; rockstar shades; and a crushed velvet, leopard-print dress shirt. to top it all off nice and neat he grabbed a super-fly, brown leather jacket. g bought red, heart-shaped, lolita-esque sunglasses for her punk-rock-bad-ass-bitch-school-girl outfit and we were all ready to rock'N'roLL!

that evening we dined out at yamashiro's in h-wood with the CuZ's cuz from sanny franny and then turned in early for the early drive out to veGas in the morn.

now, in the beginning the trip was solely for our "modern" friends M & A and g and i (i will hitherto refer to g and i plurally as "jellyfishy") to hang out, party, and play. in a somewhat unfortunate way (and somewhat good way) all that fell apart when i mentioned veGas to the CuZ. the CuZ then invited his cuz, john, to come out and party down. i don't know whether or not he knew g was coming at the time or what, but somehow all these lines of communication got crossed and by friday night half i had managed to invite/tell WAY too many people about the whole trip. firstly, i had invited our friend gina along thinking that since she had just broke up with her incredibly short-term, long-distance boyfriend the trip to veGas would be a welcome change of scenery and a chance to get out into the night and get WiLD! alas, i gravely overestimated her...but more on that later...

also, during thursday nights drunken revelry at the Gas Lite, i managed to invite my friend Eugene. so by friday night we had M & A, jellyfishy (g and i), the Cuz, john, gina, and eugene all ready to go.

this is where it began to unravel. the CuZ had only planned for himself, john and your dear narrator for the stay in veGas and thus had only asked his uncle for a room for 3. when he arrived in LA and learned that g AND gina were going to be there he sort of tightened up. the reason being that himself and john are two SINGLE dudes and were expecting to share the room with just another guy, i.e.; me - your dear narrator.

this threw everything off and the CuZ and john's initial impression of gina wasn't all that favorable so they weren't too bright on the idea of sharing a room with her for the night...or multiple nights for that matter...

so then we had a dilemma. i figured that maybe gina and eugene could share a room and all would be well...but again...putting a single guy in a room with a girl in the city O sin makes them think that i'm crampin' their style. so i told g that gina may have to find a room for herself in all of this. exasperated g then told me that gina had no money for a room...or anything else for that matter. i asked her what gina was expecting to do in veGas if she hadn't the money and she shrugged.

so the dilemma grew...2 extra people, no room, one of them no money. so i decided that gina should go on standby until i could sort out how we were going to work out the accomodations factor. g called her and told her what was up. sadly, this was pretty much like UNinviting her...i tried to see if eugene could split the cost of the room with her and he was down with it as it would save him money. alas, when g called gina back to tell her we had sorted something out she declined to go and backed out alltogether. on one hand i was relieved and on the other i was sad. i think gina could have had a lot of fun, but g said that she probably wouldn't have because she's rather introverted and in g's words, "you can't make a cat into a dog, brian." so i let it be.

after that was all worked out we decided that eugene could drive us out there and back and all was well with the world. we packed some gear and turned in early...

(more to come - parents just arrived and we're going out for dinner)
